Today marks the official opening of our Dallas office. Sure it's a holiday and no one was there, but we officially take possession of our new office today. We are in the Hall Office Park in Frisco, just off the Tollway and 121. Justin Bryant relocated to Dallas a few weeks ago and Liza Denton joined our team about that same time. Our Dallas office number is 972-464-1033.
A few upcoming events in January:
1) Rockfish Open House - In December we moved into our new office in Northwest Arkansas. On January 20th from 5:30 to 7:30 we will have an open house. More details are forthcoming, but we'll have an open bar (both Silver Joe's coffee and drinks), hearty appetizers, etc. Plan to come by and check out our new space.
2) Walmart Emerging Media Presentation - John Andrews from Walmart will be by our office on January 20th from 3:30 to 5:00 to give a presentation on Walmart's Emerging Media strategy. We'll have limited seating, and this event will be open to suppliers of Walmart and their agencies. We'll be sending out invitations to this event soon, but if you would like to attend please RSVP to Allyson at our office.
3) Launching the new Rockfishinteractive.com & Rockfishblog.com - So, I've been wanting to do this for a long time but we have just been so busy that it keeps getting pushed back. We're still too busy, but we're working overtime to make this happen. We have so many projects and products at Rockfish that our current website doesn't represent. Our new website will do a much better job of telling our story and will be easier for us to update when we launch new projects. Hold us accountable for launching our new site this month!
Current Job Openings:
We are currently looking to add a UI Architect, Web Designer, Account Executive, and Barista (see previous posting) to our team in Northwest Arkansas. Allyson will post more specifics shortly, but if you're interested in any of these positions please be in touch.
Looking Forward to 2009:
A great motivating thought is that "it's never too late to become the person you always knew you could be." With the beginning of a new year I've identified areas in my life that I will significantly improve in 2009. One of our core values at Rockfish is to "become great at what you do." Not good, or even better than most, but great. We look to hire "self-motivated enthusiasts who love what they do and always strive to improve." I don't believe that I have ever met a successful person that did not love what they did and care about it passionately. At Rockfish I would rather have one person with passion that 50 with interest. Why hire people that will waste a good percentage of their lives doing something that merely "pays the bills?"
One of the things I love about a new year is that it truly does feel like a fresh start. I know it's only a day on a calendar, but why not pick today to identify a few areas in your life where you can make significant improvements this year? This past week I asked my direct reports to pick one area in 09 where they will grow personally, one area where they will work to improve Rockfish, and one expertise they can add to their team that would significantly improve their department. Numerous studies demonstrate the power of simply identifying what you want to improve, writing it down, and determining how you will go about accomplishing it. I can't wait to see what they have come up with, and I can't wait to see what our team can accomplish in 09! Follow us on this blog and we'll keep you posted.
Happy New Year!
